Wildlife Rescue Teams
Welcome to the Wildlife Rescue Team
If you find an animal in distress, whether sick, injured, or deceased, please use the contact numbers provided here. Start by calling the first number. If you are unable to reach them, try the second number. Our team will help coordinate the next steps.
Our Wildlife Rescue Team works closely with environmental partners on the island to make sure animals receive the care they need. For example, if an injured bird is reported, the team contacts the Wildlife Center of Venice. If a gopher tortoise needs assistance, they coordinate with our Gopher Tortoise Conservation Team.
If you are unsure whether an animal needs help, it is always okay to call. Early reporting helps protect wildlife and improves outcomes.
Before You Call Checklist
- Note the exact location of the animal
- Observe from a safe distance and do not approach unless instructed
- Do not offer food or water
- Keep pets and people away from the area
- Take a photo if possible to help with identification
- Share any visible injuries or unusual behavior when you call
